- Nikka Costa – Stuck To You: I’ve always loved Nikka -ever since hearing her single ‘Like A Feather’ and I’ve always been dissapointed largely by the number and quality of her remixes. I’m not saying that every artist/song needs to be mixed for the clubs but Nikka’s vocal style is very well suited for a club scene. This single is fun by itself, a fantastic return to the scene. I have yet to hear any of the mixes but I’m happy with the calibre of the remixers. Aude & Vission should bring a nice electro house sound to the track, while Sunshine could bring his traditional electro-rock vibe. “Stuck To You” comes off her new album ‘Pebble To A Pearl’, out October 14th.
- Hilary Duff – Reach Out: Lead single off of Duff’s forthcoming ‘Best Of’ compilation, “Reach Out” samples heavily from Depeche Mode’s “Reach Out & Touch Me.” I’ve already heard the mixes for this song and I have to say, I’m relatively pleased. Going off of the success of other artists sampling old songs and making them into new songs, Hilary’s single does the job. Nothing new here, but still enjoyable, sugary pop/dance music. I enjoy the Bermudez and Vission mixes…have yet to listen to DJ Escape & Dom Capello’s mixes. Hilary’s ‘Best Of’ album comes out in November.
- Michelle Williams – The Greatest: “The Greatest” is Michelle’s third single to be remixed off her latest album, ‘Unexpected.” Following “We Break The Dawn” and “Hello Heartbreak”, “The Greatest” is one track I haven’t heard yet and didn’t know they were remixing until recently. Looking at the lineup of remixers (Nevins, Maurice Joshua, Mr. Mig, etc.) I have to say that I’m excited. I enjoyed the mixes of “We Break The Dawn” but have not yet listened to the “Hello Heartbreak” mixes (available now on Amazon and iTunes). I am pumped for these!
