However which way you cut it, Rachel Crow is a star. As a contestant on the inaugural season of the U.S. X Factor, this precocious teenager made a strong first impression with her audition, proclaiming the FIRST thing she’d do should she win the whole thing would be to get her own bathroom. The judges, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Cheryl Cole and L.A. Reid were instantly smitten and so was the audience. While Crow went out fifth from the competition, she remained a steady fan favorite throughout, ultimately landing her very own record deal.

I’m still hopeful that we’ll hear Rachel’s bubbly personality come out on her new EP, although “Mean Girls” definitely shows off the fact that this girl can SING. Make sure you check out the directorial-debut of Rachel’s friend Carlos Pena, who directed and produced the music video/lyric video for her first single. The stop-motion video was made entirely on a chalkboard. Rachel’s EP will be available June 26th (iTunes US).
