He Met Her is a “buzzworthy” LA-based duo currently prepping for the release of their debut EP, Crime Novela, due later this year Consisting of Mowgli Moon (he) and Rocky Chance (her), He Met Her has to be one of the most GORGEOUS duos I’ve ever seen. Seriously! They’re both model-STUNNING. Their sound is a lovely mixture of both retro pop and contemporary electronica, sort of a mix between Foster The People, MGMT and one of my personal favs, Black Kids, who’s 2008 debut album, Partie Traumatic, remains one of my favorite albums to date. How refreshing!
Just a month after releasing their first free download, “Take Me Tonight” (“an atmospheric, synth driven” gem of an introduction), He Met Her have unveiled the video for their official debut single, “Control” by way of MTV’s Buzzworthy and the Logo Channel. The sexy stunner of a video features the delicious-looking couple sexing up a skeevy looking Los Angeles motel, where, according to MTV, “no surface is safe from the LA-based disco-pop duo’s super-fierce sexiness.” “Control” has already been embraced by radio, debuting it’s first week as the #4 most added on the RPM charts. Not bad for a first effort!
In describing the creative process behind the song, He Met Her explained “We wanted it all to feel a bit French riviera, fun in the sun and pure full liberation.” The video serves up an intentional homage to Bonnie & Clyde with a “flirty feel that we were trying to revive with the fervent effect of two people apprehensively enamored with each other.”
According to the press release, He Met Her have spent YEARS “honing their unique sound, mixing playful melodies and moody lyricism all agains the beachy backdrop of LA’s buzzing creative scene.” With a burgeoning West Coast fan base firmly behind them, He Met Her are ready to break out onto the mainstream stage, taking full advantage of the powers of social media. They’ve already been hailed as a “refreshing blend of unabashed pop and unsolicited cool” and I couldn’t agree more with that assessment.
“We want our songs to be songs to feel good to, get free and vibe out to. We express ourselves by allowing every song to be inspired by something classic we enjoy & mixing it with that future fun & experimental spin.“
