Lisa Marie Presley has announced her first tour in more than five years, kicking things off at
Gramercy Theatre in New York City on
June 14th. The tour sees Presley making her way across the country promoting her brand new studio album,
Storm & Grace which was released
May 15th via
Universal Republic Records. Tour stops, in addition to NYC include Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. For the full list of tour dates, take a peek after the jump.
The last time I remember listening to AND enjoying a Lisa Marie Presley tune was back in 2003 when she released her first single, “Lights Out” off her debut solo album, To Whom It May Concern (Capitol Records). Decidedly more ROCK than it was pop, “Lights Out” suited both Presley’s which suited her sexy yet conservative bad girl image and edgy rock sound.
Sonically, Presley’s new single, entitled “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet” is very similar but not in a bad way. Like “Lights Out,” the new song has those dark, spooky elements that make Lisa Marie Presley such an alluring artist. The accompanying Dean Karr-directed video serves as the PERFECT complement, with a Tim Burton-esque quality about it that lends itself particularly well as a visual parallel to the song. Check it out BELOW.
Produced by Grammy-winner T Bone Burnett (Counting Crows, Natalie Merchant), Storm & Grace is Presley’s third album as well as her Universal Republic/XIX Recordings debut, serving as the follow up to her 2003 Gold-certified To Whom It May Concern and 2005’s Now What, both of which debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. Co-writing every song on the album, Presley had the pleasure of collaborating with a host of talented songwriters including Ed Harcourt (Lauren Pritchard, Paloma Faith), Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, KT Tunstall), Sacha Skarbek (Neneh Cherry, Adele), Steve Booker (Duffy, Stevie Nicks) and more.
In addition to promoting the album with this upcoming tour,
Lisa Marie Presley has also been making the rounds, performing on a variety of TV including on
American Idol,
Good Morning America,
The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, and
Jimmy Kimmel Live! Released on
May 15th,
Storm & Grace debuted on the
Billboard 200 at #45 and on the
Rock Chart at #21. Pick it up today (
