24 year-old British singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Jack Garratt is officially on my list of live acts I will continue to see live, over and over again, whenever possible. To see Garratt do his thing live on a stage is an experience to say the least. He is literally a one-man-band. He sings, he does his own instruments. He produces. It’s quite breathtaking, really ESPECIALLY when you throw in some simple lighting effects. BREATHTAKING. Watch the Andrew Donoho-Directed video for his song “Breathe Life,” off his upcoming debut album, PHASE, below.
BRIT Critic’s Choice Award, Jack snagged the coveted top spot on the BBC Sound of 2016 Poll (an annual BBC poll to find the most promising new talent). The last artist to win both awards—just a little no-name called Sam Smith.
February 19th release of his his debut album, PHASE (via Interscope) Jack Garratt is set to kick off his FIRST EVER North American headlining tourFebruary 26th in Cambridge, MA. The 10-date trek includes 2 SOLD-OUT dates in New York City and concludes March 11th in Los Angeles. What’s more, Garratt recently announcedKacy Hill as his tour opener—something I am VERY excited about. In case you haven’t heard of Kacy Hill, get familiar with her ASAP. Not only has the tangerine-haired diva snagged some prestigious ‘Next Best Thing’ titles on dozens of buzz worthy music blogs, Hill also counts Kanye West among her fans.
Currently signed to Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam, the Phoenix-born songstress (and former American Apparelmodel) put out her VERY STRONG debut EP, BLOO last fall, featuring the trippy electro-piano ballad “Foreign Fields” and the anthemic “Arm’s Length.” As excited as I was already to see Jack Garratt play his biggest NYC stage as a headliner (Garratt previously opened for MSMR at Terminal 5), the added bonus of seeing Kacy Hill live for the first time leaves me even more delighted. Check out the stunning video for “Foreign Fields” below.
Following the release of Garratt’s critically-acclaimed EPs; Remnants and Synesthesia, PHASE is out February 19th and is available to pre-order now, both digitally (iTunes) in both a 12-track standard version and a 19-song deluxe edition AND physically on both CD and vinyl (Store). Check out the track listing below.
