I am in love with this song called “Miss You,” and I’m pretty sure after a couple of listens (maybe only one—that’s all it took to hook me) you will be as well. It’s by an up & coming Vienna-born, Berlin-based singer/songwriter/producer named James Hersey—that’s the VERY SAME James Hersey that you hear on that massive Dillon Francis + Kygo collab, “Coming Over.” Hersey’s vocals have a real calming quality about them—like that of a folk singer. Even in remixed form, while immersed in a sea of clanging EDM beats, Hersey’s distinguishable voice floats to the top and puts the listener at ease. With “Miss You,” we’re able to get more of a sense of his artistic sensibilities. While the song is very much electronic pop at its core, it’s the sweetness in the Hersey’s voice that really sells me.
“Miss You” was released August 19th (via Glassnote Records) and is available to stream (Spotify) and download (iTunes) now. It was co-produced by Hersey himself, alongside Will Hicks (frequent Ed Sheeran collaborator). Give the song a listen below and look out for his debut EP as well as a music video for “Miss You,” coming soon.
