I’ve been sitting on a bunch of ACE songs that came out some time ago, that I INTENDED to write about but didn’t. First of the batch, a new one from the founder of the DISCO movement—the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Giorgio Moroder. The song, which was released January 30th is called “Right Here, Right Now” and it features Aussie electropop QUEEN Kylie Minogue. This sparkly disco-infused floor-filler will impact on March 15th with remixes from 7th Heaven, so keep your ears open. Check out the DANIEL BÖRJESSON-directed clip below.

“Right Here, Right Now” is the second official taste of Giorgio Moroder‘s forthcoming new album—his first solo record in over 30 years—due out in the Spring! The song serves as the follow-up to album BUZZ track, “74 Is The New 24,” which came out last fall. In addition to this STUNNING Kylie collab, the as-yet-untitled album also features assistance from some of pop music’s biggest heavy-hitters and buzz-generators, including Britney Spears, Sia, Charli XCX, Mikky Ekko, Foxes and Matthew Koma. Disco is about to make a MAJOR comeback, folks. Prepare yourselves accordingly.
For those of you who need a history lesson, Giorgio Moroder (74) is an Italian producer, songwriter, performer and DJ who was been working in the industry, seemingly forever. Over the course of his illustrious career, Mr. Moroder has worked with artists spanning a variety of musical genres, including Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Cher, Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan, Freddie Mercury, Blondie, David Bowie and of course the late, great Donna Summer. In fact, Moroder is largely responsible for Summer’s rise to fame in the 70s, collaborating on some of her biggest hits, including “Love To Love You Baby,” “Hot Stuff,” and “I Feel Love.” The two joined forces again in 1997, when Moroder produced her Grammy-winning song “Carry On.”
Giorgio Moroder entered the spotlight more recently as a guest-collaborator on Daft Punk‘s Grammy-winning album, Random Access Memories, and thanks to his remixes of Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett’s “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” (see BELOW), Coldplay‘s “Magic” and more.

If you’re not familiar with Giorgio Moroder‘s work, do yourself a favor and start with his film scores, which include classic movies like Scarface, and Midnight Express as well as quintessential Hollywood soundtrack fare such as “Take My Breath Away” from Top Gun, Irene Cara‘s “Flashdance,” Blondie‘s “Call Me” from American Gigolo plus music for cult favorite The Never Ending Story. His body of work is truly impressive. To say I’m excited to see what he has in store for us in 2015 would be an understatement.
