I’ve been obsessed with this song “Capsize” since its premiere last month over on V Magazine, and while I haven’t been blogging, I’ve been Tweeting up a storm about it. This infectious bop hooks you in from the get-go, thanks to some mesmerizing hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah’s, from guest vocalist—singer/songwriter Emily Warren—a hitmaker in her own right, with songs by The Chainsmokers, Jessie J and Becky G listed among her credits. While FRENSHIP (TWO actual FRENS, James Sunderland and Brent Hite), the LA-based duo behind this future jam are relatively fresh on the scene, THIS song could very well be what blows them the eff up. At present “Capsize” currently has well over 10 million Spotify streams and counting and is featured on the streaming app’s #TodaysTopHits playlist. Give it a listen below:
While “Capsize” is definitely danceable-pop music, I wouldn’t call it traditional, by-the-numbers dance-pop. There’s something unique about these guys and their sound. The song’s easy-breezy production is fresh-sounding and summery; the synth & percussion-lead beat propelling the male + female vocal pairing forward into an explosive POP chorus intersection. I literally can’t get enough.
