21-year old Porter Robinson is the latest in a string of young DJs the blow up internationally, following in the footsteps of fellow EDM juggernauts like Martin Garrix (16 y/o), Flume (21 y/o), Disclosure (20 & 23 y/o), Avicii (24 y/o) and Zedd (24 y/o), to name just a few. Chapel Hill, North Carolina born Robinson is getting ready to release his third single (and Zane Lowe‘s ‘Hottest Record In The World“), “Lionhearted” off his debut album, Worlds (out August 12th via Astralwerks). Check out the video to and witness Robinson’s acting debut for yourself.
The video, directed by Jodeb (who also directed the “Language” clip) features our young EDM stud, Porter Robinson, leading a rowdy gang of Harajuku girls (where are the claims of racism people pummeled Avril Lavigne with?). Harajuku-based stylist Elleanor Yamaguchi (AKA Elleanor Tokyo) served as stylist on the video, as well as starring in the video, lending her talents and adding a certain amount of Harajuku authenticity to the whole visual spectacle.
The song features SWEET vocals, courtesy of Swedish indie pop outfit Urban Cone and serves as the followup to previous singles “Sad Machine,” (#1 on HypeM!) and “Sea Of Voices” which was Worlds’ lead single offering. Pre-order the album now and get all three singles for instant download! In addition to Urban Cone, Worlds also features assistance from indie electro-pop-rock band Lemaitre, Canadian singer/songwriter Amy Millan (who sings with both Stars and Broken Social Scene),U.S.-based singer/songwriter Breanne Düren (Owl City), Sean Caskey (Last Dinosaurs) and Canadian indie-pop band Imaginary Cities.
Following the August 12th release of Worlds, Porter Robinson kicks off a major North American Tour (his first!) on August 28th in Vancouver, British Columbia. Check out a full list of tour dates below. Robinson will be hopping across the pond for an exclusive show at KOKO in London on October 30th.
