Early morning on February 23rd, 2015 BRIT Award nominee Paloma Faith unveiled the video for “Beauty Remains,” the latest single taken from the Outsider’s Edition of her third album, A Perfect Contradiction (iTunes). The single—due March 29th—was produced by Bernard Butler, formerly of Suede and producer for Aimee Mann, Edwyn Collins, Neneh Cherry, Sophie Ellis Bextor. The song was co-written by Faith, alongside Fyfe Dangerfield and Butler. The single is an emotional, soul-drenched, riff-heavy (in a good way), 80s-influenced pop ballad, custom-made for a singer of Paloma’s calibre. Check out the George Belfield-directed clip BELOW.
The video is absolutely STUNNING. When it comes to visuals, Paloma Faith doesn’t disappoint. From the artwork to the music videos to the costumes—everything is DRIPPING with glamour. Per Paloma Faith‘s usual, the “Beauty Remains” video features gorgeous couture gowns, sequins as far as the eye can see, a handsome male actor and…a fiery motorcycle crash. OK, so it’s not the most uplifting, happy video treatment but it’s visually stunning and the costumes worn by Ms. Faith are absolutely DIVINE.
“Beauty Remains” is the sixth single to be taken from A Perfect Contradiction, and the THIRD from the Outsider’s Edition alone. The album peaked at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned two Top 10 UK Singles, including the Diane Warren-penned, Motown-inspired ballad, “Only Love Can Hurt Like This” (No. 6) and the Pharrell-produced lead single, “Can’t Rely On You” (No. 10). The album ended the year as the ‘best-selling album by a female artist in the UK in 2014.” Her last charting single, “Ready For The Good Life” (No. 68) was the first release off the re-packaged Outsider’s Edition which was released in November.
She may have just finished a European tour but Faith is a bonafide TOURING MACHINE, as she has proven year after year. Her latest UK tour kicks off March 12th in Brighton and concludes March 28th in Plymouth. After that, Paloma heads down under for 6 Australian dates in May followed by a series of European and UK festival dates (including T In The Park!). Oh…and don’t think that because she’s touring up a storm that Paloma Faith isn’t ALREADY thinking about album No. 4. As far as dream collaborators, Faith name-dropped Andre 3000, Jeff Bhasker and Mark Ronson in a recent interview with Digital Spy. Fingers crossed!
Be sure and catch Paloma later tonight on The BRIT Awards where she’s nominated for ‘Best Female Act‘ and is scheduled to perform. U.S. Anglophiles like myself can tune in to the live stream on YouTube (starting at 3:00 PM EST).
