I love me some Natasha Bedingfield. With the release of her new Ryan Tedder writen/produced single “Strip Me,” I found myself reflecting back to 2004. From the first time I heard her debut UK single…”Single“…I was instantly hooked. Before 2004 the only Bedingfield I knew was her brother, singer/songwriter Daniel Bedingfield, so when I learned that there was another Bedingfield on the scene I was curious. Her debut album, Unwritten was chock-full of pop gems from mid-tempo pop anthems like “Single,” “These Words” and “Unwritten” not to mention impassioned ballads like “I Bruise Easily.” When her debut was FINALLY released in America 2 years later, you best know I was flaunting my superior pop music taste to all of my friends who were asking – “Have you heard of Natasha Bedingfield?” “Um…obv!“
Now, with the December release of her third studio album on the horizon, Natasha Bedingfield is releasing her first OFFICIAL single (“buzz single” “Touch” was released in May) off the album, title track “Strip Me.” The song sounds VERY much like a Ryan Tedder track in that there’s nothing shockingly original about it. Bedingfield works with what she has, her trademark sexy raspy vocals coating every note.
Shot in London, the newly released video was directed by visionary photographer Rankin (Kelis, Sky Ferreira) and features Bedingfield (looking STUNNING as ever) showing off a variety of different looks – from natural to heavily done-up and decked out in couture. Absolutely GORGEOUS. The song was sent to radio at the end of August in the U.S. and so far features remixes by Gareth Wyn which you can hear over on Pop In Stereo. Sounds pretty promising. This could be another #1 dance single for Bedingfield, who’s previously struck Billboard DANCE gold on the charts with past singles “Unwritten,” “Love Like This” and “Pocketful of Sunshine.” This song might be a grower after all. Now, let me listen to the remix a few more times and get back to you.
