“Let’s Go Higher” is the new solo single from New Kids On The Block‘s Jordan Knight and the first single lifted off of Knight’s forthcoming fifth album, Unfinished. Co-penned by Knight and Colby O’Donis the song sounds about as catchy as anything else you’d hear on Top 40 radio today, which is kind of surprisingly. You’d expect at nearly 40, Knight would be settling into the cliche realm of adult contemporary but that’s just not in the cards. Knight addresses that very issue in a recent Billboard interview, saying:
“There’s this idea that when you turn 40, you automatically go to adult contemporary heaven, but I want to try and challenge that. My heart has always been in more up-tempo music you can dance to.”
While part of me thinks he’s trying to hard to stay hip, if that’s where his heart is at right now musically speaking, then maybe it is genuine. Lord knows he still looks good, so I say more power to him. In addition to working on new solo material, Knight is also teaming up with his old band New Kids on the Block, who in turn is teaming up with The Backstreet Boys to form a mega-boy band – NKOTBSB. The two bands are going on tour together this summer. Check out the video for “Let’s Go Higher” below and download the single on iTunes HERE.
