Produced by Martin “Cherry Cherry Boom Boom” Kierzenbaum (Lady Gaga, Far East Movement, Natalia Kills), “Like I Got A Gun” is only a sample of what fans can expect on her debut album, this according to Carr herself, who checked in with musical trend-setter Arjan Writes while finishing up work on her album at New York’s MSR Studios. According to Colette, Schizo isn’t going to be your run-of-the-mill candy pop album. Oh no. While there’s going to be some of that for sure, we should expect a lot more.
“Stay tuned for the pop sound and the sugary stuff mixed in with the harsher, ‘Like I Got A Gun,’ ‘Bitch Like Me’ style. I am a person, I am three dimensional and I wanna just invite everyone into that world. There’s different sounds, different colors, and I’m excited for them to experience all of them with me…”
YES! This sounds amazing. While I do love Colette spittin’ mad verses, I also love her as a singer. Case in point, her star turn in the Frankmusik collab “No I.D.” where she delivered Sandy Olsen realness next to Vincent Frank’s Danny Zuko. It’s clear to me that Colette Carr isn’t your average pop star. She’s got a voice to go along with her sick skills as an MC and I’m really hoping her new album showcases all sides of her musically, as well as personality wise. In the meantime, look out for Colette, certain to be peeing on a tree near you (watch the above interview with Arjan Writes if this reference went over your head)
