Gabe Saporta from the band Cobra Starship is ABSOLUTELY one of my pop crushes. There’s just something about his cocky confidence that gets sucks me in every time I see him in a video. My crush goes back to the first time I saw him in the “Snakes On A Plane” video. He’s just the perfect mix of bad boy rock star and flamboyant pop star and his music is damn catchy. While Cobra Starship has certainly been moving in a much more mainstream direction lately, a problem for some fans, I don’t see anything wrong with it. The move has definitely been paying off for the band, as their new single “You make Me Feel” continues to climb the Billboard Hot 100 chart, this week notching up a few spots into the #26 spot.
Featuring American singer/songwriter and Warner Brothers recording artist Sabi on guest vocals, the track is the first official single off the band’s forthcoming FOURTH studio album, entitled Night Shades (due out August 30th via Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance). The band’s last album, Hot Mess, was a top 5 hit and spawned the top 10 single, “Good Girls Go Bad,” featuring Gossip Girl‘s own Leighton Meester. Stylistically, the song is dance/punk, which seems to be the direction that the band is heading in. Written by Steve Mac and Ina Wroldsen and produced by Mac, “You make Me Feel…” is as catchy as they come. Check out the super fun Kai Regan-directed clip below and look out for a cameo by actor/comedian Robin Williams, who appears with his daughter Zelda Williams.
