I’ve been under the spell of English singer/songwriter Clare Maguire since the release of her 2011 debut album, Light After Dark and while she’s been busy in the 4 years since the album’s release, I get the sense that a new record is closer than we might think—at least I hope so! Just last week, Maguire unleashed a POWER-HOUSE of a song called “Don’t Mess Me Around” via Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show, followed shortly thereafter by the premiere of the song’s music video on The Fader.
In the video, we see a STUNNING Clare Maguire, dressed in a vintage leopard blazer, complemented by bangs and a smokey eye, clutching her silver mic and delivering a passionate performance. Surrounded by her handsome band and a troupe of backup dancers outfitted in white sequinned-gowns, the gorgeous Clare Maguire stands her ground. Be sure and check out the James Willis-directed clip BELOW.
According to The Fader, “Don’t Mess Me Around” was written with Sam Dixon (Sia, Christina Aguilera, Paloma Faith) a few years ago and only recently revisited. This bluesy bop is the title track on Maguire’s new EP, Don’t Mess Me Around, out now in the UK (iTunes) and available in America March 3rd (iTunes). While nothing has been confirmed yet, Clare hinted on Twitter that she might be coming to America with this next album.
ICYMI: Earlier this month, Clare Maguire performed for the Burberry‘s womenswear runway show during London Fashion Week, following a performance in January for the the British clothier’s menswear show. I don’t know about you lot, but I CANNOT WAIT for an album of new music from this talented artist. It’s hard to believe she’s only put one album out in 4 years. Well, good things come to those who wait, I suppose and Clare—we’re waiting. Patiently, of course.
