“Lemonade” is the latest offering from 23-year old Romanian pop princess Alexandra Stan, who’s international breakthrough single, “Mr. Saxobeat” took the world by storm last winter, hitting #1 all over Eastern Europe and even cracking the Top 5 in the UK. Even over here in America, “Mr. Saxobeat” was a surprise mainstream hit, peaking at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. While “Lemonade” might not be NEARLY as infectious as “Saxobeat,” it’s the perfect summertime single.
While europop for me is generally pretty hit or miss, I do enjoy the fact that it’s making a bit of a comeback now. Back in the 90s and early 2000s I was all about the Vengaboys and Aqua. Now, evidently, the best europop is coming out of Romania, with both Alexandra Stan and Inna dropping dance hit after dance hit.
Now, with summer in full swing, Alexandra Stan‘s “Lemonade” is sure to get you salivating for a cool glass of your favorite citrus refreshment so pour yourself a glass and have yourself a little dance. “Lemonade” is out now in Italy (iTunes Italy) and should be available everywhere else shortly. In the UK, Alexandra is signed to 3Beat Records, home to everyone from Inna and Skepta to Duck Sauce and Martin Solveig.
