Alex Winston has been on my radar now for a few months, yet somehow I’ve been sitting on this music video for her latest single “Careless” (a song I posted about back in December when I called Winston, “One To Watch” so apologies for the delay. The video sees a STUNNING Alex Winston, moving throughout a senior men’s living facility seemingly unnoticed, like a ghost. She slinks and poses while the older gentlemen go about their day-to-day lives—playing bingo, swimming in the pool, etc. Conceptually it’s an odd video, but the song is a bit quirky itself so it all works perfectly together. Check out the video for “Careless” below.

While we wait for her debut album (due out later this year on 300 Entertainment), Noisey is currently streaming her new EP—The Day I Died. You can also hear Alex Winston singing these songs (and others) on tour this summer with Neon Trees. Speaking of the forthcoming album, it will feature production from Catherine Marks (PJ Harvey, Death Cab For Cutie, Interpol)—an interesting choice for a decidedly more pop-than-rock singer but highly intriguing nonetheless. For me, the allure to Alex Winston is the tone and timbre of her voice. I honestly think she would sound interesting on a mix of genres including pop, folk, dance. I look forward to hearing more from Alex Winston in the months leading up to her debut album’s release.
“Careless” is available to download (iTunes) and stream (Spotify) right now.
