Singer/songwriter Eliza Doolittle (whom I interviewed last month) has a busy Fall/Winter ahead of her. Soon after Doolittle finishes her tour with the fabulous Paloma Faith (which wraps up in London on November 8th), she’s set to drop her debut U.S. album on November 23rd. While there are no confirmed gigs in the States at this point, Doolittle DID do a private gig in Los Angeles on October 26th. I’m hoping she comes back across the pond and does some more promotion before heading off to Australia at the end of the month for two gigs (November 30 – December 2). NEXT she’s back in Europe for two gigs – one in Vienna on December 14th and one in Dublin on December 18th. Busy, busy busy!
Doolittle’s debut album, re-titled Meet Eliza Doolittle for it’s U.S. release, comes out November 23rd on Capitol Records and features production from the likes of Greg Kurstin and Steve Chrisanthou. While we’re waiting for Eliza Doolittle to crack the U.S. market, we’re treated to an easy, breezy cover of Cee-Lo Green‘s hit single, “F**k You.” Doolittle’s laid back demeanor and effortless swagger create an unexpected yet pleasant contrast with the song’s biting lyrics. Doolittle and her two backup singers really seem to be having fun with the performance, with Doolittle playing it up for the camera. I’m also sort of in love with her tall, handsome bass player. *DROOL*
U.S. fans, why don’t you go pick up “Skinny Genes,” and “Pack Up” on iTunes. You can also pick up the video for her current UK single, “Rollerblades,” which so far has peaked at #58 on the Official UK Singles Chart. Stay tuned for more details on her U.S. album when they become available and check out Eliza’s cover of “F**k You” below. AMAZING.
