I first became aware of up & coming rapper Diggy Simmons when he featured on UK soul/R&B singer (and Amy Winehouse‘s God Daughter) Dionne Bromfield‘s single “Yeah Right.” Since that very moment, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for word on Diggy’s forthcoming solo debut and I’m happy to report that it’s finally here!
“Copy, Paste” is an impressive debut single for the 16 year old MC, who only recently inked a deal with Atlantic Records and expects to put out a full length debut album later this year. The song kind of reminds me of the male version of JoJo‘s “In The Dark,” from her last mixtape, Can’t Take That Away From Me. Diggy Simmons (AKA Daniel Dwayne “Diggy” Simmons, III) is son of hip-hop pioneer Joseph Simmons (AKA Rev Run), appearing on his Dad’s MTV reality series, Run’s House. Diggy, who’s putting the finishing touches to his album this summer, has earned quite the fan following with his appearances on Run’s House. The show really allowed fans an up close and personal look at Diggy’s development as an artist, chronicling the first moment he learned he could rhyme to his landing the cover of XXL magazine’s 2011 “Freshmen” issue. You can’t put a price on that kind of exposure! {SOURCE}. When talking to MTV about his new music, Diggy’s all about his fans.
“People they say when they’re down, they can relate to it. It’ll lift their spirits up or they can just have fun with it. They just love it and that’s what I love because it comes from my heart. I don’t talk about nothing I don’t do, man. I don’t talk about nothing that’s not real. I talk about my life, so the fact that they really connect with it and love it, it makes my life, man.”{SOURCE}
