Singer/songwriter BØRNS (AKA Garrett Borns) will release his highly anticipated debut album, Dopamine October 16th through Interscope Records. The album is available now for PRE-ORDER on iTunes, which includes instant downloads of “10,000 Emerald Pools,” “Electric Love” (current single) and “The Emotion.” The latter was premiered exclusively last month as Zane Lowe‘s “World Record” on his Apple Music/Beats 1 radio show. Can’t beat three free tracks, right?
I’ve been SMITTEN with BØRNS‘ brand of nostalgia-soaked indie-pop since hearing “Electric Love” preceding the release of his debut CANDY EP earlier this year. Since then of course, I gained appreciation for the 23 year-old’s first single, “10,000 Emerald Pools,” which initially didn’t connect with me. Check out “The Emotion,” BØRNS‘ latest release below:

To celebrate the release of his debut album, BØRNS will be taking his show on the road this Fall for his first official headlining tour after opening for artists like Misterwives, Charli XCX and Bleachers and playing major festivals including Firefly, Lollapalooza, etc. Check out a list of tour dates below and be sure you keep up to date by visiting the official website. After missing out on tickets for a SUPER-INTIMATE show at NYC’s Mercury Lounge, I was finally able to snag myself a ticket to see him play later this season at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
Dopamine will feature production from Tommy English (Drowning Pool, New Politics, Ladyhawke), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars, Kid Cudi) and Jeff Bhasker (Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Kanye West). In an interview with SPIN magazine earlier this summer, BØRNS says we can expect the same retro-influences we’ve heard on previous releases (YAY), including “a lot of swoopy Beach Boys-esque harmonies” and songs “influenced by some old ’60s and ’70s Playboys.” Describing the sound and vibe of the project overall, BØRNS says we can expect a “very dark rock theme and clap beats surrounding effects.” Sounds very promising indeed. Can’t wait to FINALLY see BØRNS do his thing live this Fall!
