“Only 15 months ago, I’d just finished my GCSEs and left school. A couple of months later, I was on the biggest television show going, got knocked out, came back, got to the final, came third, & got a record deal. Now I’ve released two singles, shot videos in Los Angeles, and recorded my first album!”
That about sums it up. Oh, did I mention she’s only 18? After coming in third runner-up on The X-Factor, the season before last, Lily was signed to Sony Music subsidiary Xenomania and proceeded to start work on her debut album. Produced by Xenomania (Girls Aloud, The Saturdays, Gabrielle Cilmi) Lily released her debut single, the INFECTIOUS pop smash “You Bring Me Joy” in September when it peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart. Second single, the similarly catchy dance-pop gem “Shut Up (And Give Me Whatever You Got)” debuted at #11 on the charts after it’s release in January.
And that brings us to the present, with Lily slated to release the album’s third single, “Party Over,” April 14th followed by the release of her debut album, Be A Fighter, April 29th. I’m optimistic that after hearing 3 quality singles already, the rest of the album should be of comparable quality. Of course, with any pop album, you always run the risk of including a few misses as pure filler. That being said, with Xenomania at the helm of this project, I’m confident that there are plenty more single-worthy dance-jams to choose from.
