I'm giving away copies of III., the new "tringle" from JoJo. Three singles, one place to hear them. Out now on Atlantic Records.

Giveaway: Enter to Win a Physical Copy of JoJo’s New “Tringle,” III.

ICYMI, JoJo put out her long awaited, highly anticipated new single...errr...TRINGLE. That's three singles people! And I'm giving all three away on one CD. Enter to win!

In case you missed the memo, the ever-so-talented, outspoken and generally badass pop singer/songwriter (and sometimes actress) JoJo is back with a new single—well 3 singles actually (she’s calling it a #Tringle)—”When Love Hurts,” “Save My Soul” and “Say Love.” To celebrate the return of JoJo, I’m giving away 4 PHYSICAL copies of III. (otherwise known as the #tringle), which is out now (iTunes) via Atlantic Records.  Listen to the songs and find out how to enter the giveaway below!

While all three songs were released simultaneously, the first one set to impact radio is the up-tempo, EDM-influenced banger, “When Love Hurts,” co-written by Benjamin Levin, Ryn Weaver, Ammar Malik, Daniel Omelio and produced by Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, Britney Spears) and Jason Evigan (Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony). While not my FAVORITE of the bunch, “When Love Hurts” is certainly a corker and very pop radio ready. What’s more, it’s remix potential is OFF-THE-CHARTS. Up till now, JoJo hadn’t released a straight-up dance single before, although she’s flirted with electronic music–most notably in her flawless 2010 mixtape, Can’t Take That Away From Me (“In The Dark” anyone?). While her earlier material was given the shaft by DJs and remixers (or perhaps her label), club mixes were commissioned for both “Too Little Too Late” and “Anything.” Her last official single, “Disaster,” also received the remix treatment, including makeovers by Sidney Samson and DJ Kue. I’d love to see JoJo take the Billboard Dance charts by storm this Fall with some FIERCEWhen Love Hurts” remixes, but we’ll have to wait and see. One thing we know for certain, JoJo filmed the video already and it looks HOT.

Save My Soul,” the second track off III. is—in my opinion—the strongest of the three, not to mention my personal favorite. I guess it should come as no surprise that this song was produced in Sweden, a beautiful country practically overflowing with talented singers, songwriters and producers (and also lots of people named “Tove“). “Save My Soul” is a powerful, piano-led mid-tempo that beautifully showcases JoJo‘s voice and impressive range. JoJo starts this one off soft yet firm before belting out the MASSIVE chorus (“YOU CAN SAVE ME, YEAH YEAH!“) with gusto. While “Save My Soul” is filled with big, power vocal moments, the song provides ample opportunity for the 24 year-old to exercise control. My favorite parts are when she shifts effortlessly into her upper range, not to mention the beautiful harmonies throughout. “Save My Soul” was co-written by American singer/songwriter Nikki Flores, Anton Malmberg Hård af Segerstad, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb and produced by Swedish outfit, The Family.

Track three is a gorgeous Harmony Samuels (Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande) produced power-ballad called “Say Love and co-written by Samuels, Wayne Hector and Chloe Angelides. If you’re a fan of old-school, R&B JOJO, this is the closest we get to that sound in the tringle. This is JoJo at her best, vocally anyway. Big emotions, even bigger notes, and a tasteful number of ad libs. III. only has three tracks, so there was bound to be one that I liked the least, right? I hate to say it but “Say Love” might be it but JoJo sings the hell out it, that’s for DAMN sure. I appreciate that JoJo only has three tracks-worth of material, so she needs to showcase a good variety of genres and musical styles, so in that respect, “Say Love” nicely balances out this mini collection, ending things on a sweet, soulful note and giving long-time fans a taste of the old JoJo they grew up with.

When you listen to “Say Love“—or really any song in the tringle—you hear growth. It’s been 9 years since The High Road and JoJo has been through a lot professionally. Sure, in the years between we’ve heard bits & bobs in the form of a mixtape or stand-alone single but JoJo has been working her A** off and it shows in all facets of this project—vocal technique, creative choices,  image—the whole nine yards. While III. doesn’t showcase any of JoJo: The Songwriter, she’s assured fans via social media that she did in fact write music from her forthcoming LP, plus anyone who’s listened to any of her mixtapes KNOWS she can write. SPEAKING of long-time fans, check out this fun video JoJo did with MTV where she breaks down the video for her debut single, “Leave (Get Out).”
