Allow me to introduce you to a new dance diva. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Giulietta is absolutely someone to keep an eye on. This talented young artist became the first un-signed Australian artist to break the BillboardDance Chart with a set of hotter than fire Dave Audé remixes of her single, “Vertigo.” The single peaked at an impressive #16 on the Billboard Dance Charts, an impressive feat considering Giulietta was virtually unknown in the States.
Here’s a bit more about the Aussie pop diva from her official bio:
“A native of Melbourne, Australia, Giulietta branched out into into the musical network in the early stage of her career, by enlisting the services of renowned DJ and producer Marcus Knight. Knight was an early musical influence for Giulietta and would help to spawn her early sleeper hit ‘Dirty House Music’ (globally played and launching at number #4 on the BeatPort charts whilst being featured twice on the ARIA Club Charts).
Capitalising on her first taste of musical delight, a scouting approach and pairing with multi-time Grammy Award winner David Kershenbaum was to follow. Kershenbaum was the genius behind stars Janet Jackson, Tracey Chapman and Bryan Adams. This latest joint-venture produced Giulietta’s debut album ‘Ascension’ – which was released on April 13, 2010. ‘Ascension’ which featured mixing by Rob Orton (Lady Gaga) and Chris Cox (Britney Spears, Rihanna).
OK…Mark Knight, David Kershenbaum, Dave Audé? How have I not heard of this girl before today? After achieving some success and notoriety in her native Australia, Giulietta set her sights on world domination which included being honored with an ‘International Pop Artist of the Year Award‘ at the Los Angeles Music Awards back in November of 2009. Additionally, Giulietta was recognized with the ‘Producers Choice Award‘ and a ‘Hollywood Walk of Fame Award‘ which helped the artist establish a name for herself in the dance/DJ community in the States.
Giulietta took a short break and began work on a follow up to her (Interscope Digital Media-released) debut, Ascension. The sophomore set, which she worked on alongside Aussie producer Simmy, is called 911: Code Pink. The record isn’t cookie cutter pop by any means, in fact Giulietta promises that it’s quite different from her previous release, establishing an “edgier, electro-pop side to the fundamentals of the musical capabilities within Giulietta‘s arsenal.” Sounds promising.
