Given my considerable absence from my blog, it’s only fitting that I would choose to come back with a post about one of my favorite British imports,
Paloma Faith. On
August 12th, twenty-six year old Faith will release her second single, the lush synthpop swooner, reminiscent of early
Cyndi Lauper. Taken from
Paloma Faith‘s sophomore album,
Fall To Grace, “
30 Minute Love Affair” follows the chart success of lead single, “
Picking Up The Pieces,” which went on to debut at #7, Faith’s highest charting single to date. The album itself, produced by the masterful
Nelle Hooper, debuted at #2, a vast improvement from the #9 debut of her first album three years prior. The album remained in the Top 10 Album Charts for weeks after it’s release and still sits in the Top 20 to this day. So much for that dreaded sophomore slump, eh Paloma?
Recounting the true story of a lost connection Paloma once had with a busker in London’s Leicester Square at the age of fourteen, “30 Minute Love Affair” was produced by Hooper and co-written by Ivor Novello Award-winner Chris Braide, an accomplished English singer/songwriter who’s worked with promising young talents such as Lana Del Rey and Diana Vickers to industry veterans including Lisa Stansfield, Beverley Knight and Kylie Minogue. Braide is also working on the forthcoming third studio album from American Idol alum and current star of NBC‘s “Smash,” Katharine McPhee.
In addition to the usual promo duties in her native UK,
Paloma Faith has also started to make a splash here in America, as she preps for the release of her new album Stateside this November
via Epic Records. With her UK tour already scheduled for the end of January (dates
BELOW), Faith took some time to perform some exclusive showcases in New York earlier this summer, dazzling crowds and earning herself new devotees left and right and earning complimentary write ups from
Glamour,
Perez Hilton,
Spin, and
Entertainment Weekly, the latter which posted a live clip from one of her NYC showcases, featuring Ms. Faith flawlessly performing her previously announced third UK single, “
Just Be.”
GORGEOUS.
