Check out the video for the new Marina and The Diamonds single “Oh No!,” which premiered earlier today. The video is a lot of fun, with it’s comic strip-styling, bright colors, cheesy dance routine, funny little speech bubbles, etc. Very cute. I really am loving this song. I tend to think of Marina and the Diamonds as an “anti-pop star,” meaning she doesn’t really sound like anything else out there in the over-crowded pop market. She has her own style and thinks outside of the box and that definitely shows through in her videos as well as her music. This video sees Marina playing a different role…more of a contradiction to herself. I guess that’s the point of the song, really. It’s still interesting to watch the video and see her acting more like a pop star than she has before. While I love the original version of the song, the Max Sanna and Steve Pitron remix takes things to the next level. Produced by Greg Kurstin, the single is due out July 26th in the UK. The video was directed by Kinga Burza.
