“Lights” was originally released back in March as Goulding’s sixth single from her debut album Lights. Released to U.S. radio stations at the end of January, “Lights” served as the album’s lead single in America and was featured on two remix EP’s, released in May and July respectively. Co-written by Ellie Goulding, co-written and produced by Richard “Biff” Stannard, Ash Howes “Lights” peaked at #3 on Billboard‘s Heatseekers Songs chart, #31 on the Pop Songs chart, #32 on Billboard‘s Hot Dance Club Songs chart and #62 on the Hot 100.
UPDATE: Goulding is currently working on the follow up to Lights, due out sometime later this year. According to Billboard, Goulding and her boyfriend Skrillex recently joined Swedish House Mafia members Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso in the studio, where the quartet cut a demo. The session was apparently facilitated by Interscope A&R Dave Rene. The fate of the demo is currently unknown, but Ingrosso assumed it was for Goulding’s forthcoming sophomore album. EXCITING!
