Time for (possibly) the UNDERSTATEMENT of the year: Cheryl Cole is one FIERCE bitch. OOZING sex in the JUST released video for new single, “Call My Name,” Cheryl gives us all a highly caffeinated, neon-filled tutorial in FABULOSITY and I want to take it AGAIN!
In the grimy, dirty (yet still somehow chic and classy) Anthony Mandler-directed clip Cheryl first dazzles us into submission by strutting (and posing) her way through some dank graffiti-marred reservoir tunnel whilst wearing a leopard bikini bottom, tattoos on her thighs and ass, and a brightly colored neon print jacket with matching neon peep-toe pumps. Did I miss anything? Before the song even starts, Cheryl throws us all a massive curve ball when a seemingly out-of-place Marquis de Sade quote about TORMENT flops up onto the screen in a white stencil font. Not sure where the torment comes into play here, but who cares? Just grind and pose Cheryl. Grind and pose.
And that was just the intro! By the time those familiar Calvin Harris-produced beats start up Cheryl has already emerged from the tunnels, thrown her hair back into a fab pony, changed into some neon parachute pants and a matching sports bra, sashaying her way over to a group of menacing-looking, mid-30s street hooligans, all awkwardly (and conveniently) clustered around their pimped out and intimidating rides. Is Cheryl scared? NO. She walks right up to these guys, teasing them with her ridiculously HOT body (as you do to a group of strange men hanging out in a reservoir), before the entire lot of them burst out into a choreographed hip-hop routine. MIND = BLOWN.
The video, which was shot in LA is the perfect video for a song like this. Bright lights, sexy poses in sexy clothes, hot men…oh and Cheryl cruising down the highway (on the right side of the road) in a flashy Beamer. Done and done. “Call My Name” is the ultimate summer party anthem and this video is DEFINITELY a video worthy of a summer party anthem. Check it out BELOW and make sure read the MuuMuse review, complete with some HIGH-LARIOUS animated gifs.
“Call My Name” will be released on June 10th (iTunes UK) and serves as single #1 from Cheryl‘s upcoming third album, A Million Lights, due June 18th on Polydor Records.
