UK singer/songwriter and Music Is My King Size Bed FAVORITE Eliza Doolittle will release her debut full-length album March 22nd on Capitol Records. To help promote the album, Doolittle has two confirmed festival dates in the States, one at SXSW (March 11-20) and one at Coachella (April 15-17), not to mention a performance at Joe’s Pub in New York City on February 10th. While not the nationwide tour I was quite hoping for, those are some pretty high profile gigs for an artist who’s still virtually unknown here in America. Let’s hope these gigs lead to bigger and better things over on this side of the pond.
Doolittle’s self-titled debut album will introduce her brand of sunshine-pop to American listeners after having impressed both fans and critics alike in her native UK. While her U.S. debut doesn’t introduce any previously unreleased material, it does include all of her past singles – “Rollerblades,” “Skinny Genes,” and “Pack Up.” Originally released back in July of 2010, Doolittle’s UK debut has been certified Platinum and her hit single “Pack Up” certified Gold. The song even managed to land a spot on iTunes Rewind as one of 2010’s best-selling songs. Here in America, Doolittle’s been getting iTunes love as well as the single was offered as the free ‘Single of the Week.’ After Doolittle’s ‘Single of the Week‘ feature her self-titled EP entered the top 10 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The EP features all of Doolittle’s singles as well as the videos and a special interview with the 22-year old singer. Why don’t you go and download the EP HERE before you buy her album on March 22nd? Sounds like a plan to me! While you’re at it, go watch the video for “Skinny Genes” below. Oh and UK fans, don’t feel left out! Doolittle will be releasing her fifth single, “Mr. Medicine” on March 13th.
